Foods that start with e (English alphabet letter e or “E”) makes an interesting and fun list for kids and adults. The list of foods that start with e helps teachers and parents to help kids learn more about the foods that start or begin with letter e, encouraging them to learn more about food names.

Creating this kind of a food list for foods that start with e, just like we created one list for foods that start with letter y, helps them to learn more words easily, as you can do this as an interesting game!

This is not a complete list, but I will add more foods to the list as I find them.

List Of Foods That Start With E

eggs

Eggs definitely make the top of the list, as it is among the most popular foods that start with letter e! Eggs are nutritious, healthy and used in a lot of recipes, as you know.

eggplant

Eggplant came to my mind as the second food that start with e, because the name is similar to eggs! Eggplants are amazing vegetables that taste delicious when cooked right. I said “cooked right” because, cooking eggplant is kind of tricky as you have to be careful not to overcook it or undercook it, for getting the perfect texture.

eggplant parmigiana

A popular Italian dish with eggplant as the main ingredient, this is a favorite of mine when I eat out.

Instead of pasta, eggplant slices are fried or baked and layered with cheese and sauce, to make delicious eggplant parmigiana.

eggplant caponata

Another Italian delicancy using eggplant!

Roasted eggplant with tomatoes, olives, wine etc to make a delicious appetozer or relish to go with crusty bread!

eggplant dip

Another very popular dish made using eggplants! This delicious dip is made using roasted mashed eggplants, tahini etc.

enchilada

Enchiladas are popular, delicious Mexican food! They are actually tortillas wrapped around fillings (of many kinds) and covered with sauce. Enchiladas can be vegetarian or non vegetarian or vegan, depending on what filling and sauce you choose to make!

eggrolls

eggrolls are fried rolls with filled meat & veggies, but you can make delicious vegetarian or vegan egg rolls as well using tasty vegetable fillings!

elderberries

elberry is a very popular edible berry used for it’s medicinal uses and it is found in the elderberry bush.

I have often found elderberries being used to make elderberry syrup, which is known to be very good for immunity and good health.

edamame

Edamame beans are young soy beans in their pods. They are delicious, crunchy in texture and very healthy and nutritious. Edamame beans are much used in Japanese cuisine and it adds much color and texture to salads, fried rice, stir fries etc.

eggnog

Eggnog is a very popular holiday drink made with eggs as the main ingredient. Often, eggnog is prepared using raw eggs, but you can also make eggnog by cooking eggs & milk, if you are concerned about using raw eggs.

egg noodles

Egg noodles is delicious pasta noodles made with flour & eggs as the main ingredients. They can be cooked just like you cook pasta or noodles.

Egg noodles come in different varieties, the most popular kinds being wide egg noodles, narrow egg noodles etc.

elbow macaroni

Elbow macaroni pasta shells are one of the most popular, common and basic pasta shapes that are used to make the all time favorite macaroni and cheese or other pasta dishes!

eggs sardou

eggs sardou is a delicious egg dish made with poached eggs, creamed spinach, artichokes and hollandaise sauce!

egg salad

egg salad is a very popular American dish made with hard boiled eggs, mustard, mayonnaise etc as the ingredients. It is very delicious and makes a great party food.

eggs benedict

eggs benedict is a popular breakfast food that usually contains eggs and meat, but we can make delicious vegetarian eggs benedict as well!

egg sandwich

Egg sandwich is popular almost everywhere in the world! Egg sandwich can be made in different ways based on how you prefer your sandwich.

Egg sandwich can be made using fried eggs, boiled eggs, poached eggs etc.

Basically the egg mixture is stuffed between bread (often with other ingredients like cheese, tomatoes, lettuce etc) to make delicious egg sandwich.

egg bhurji

Egg bhurji is an easy, delicious Indian dish made of scrambled eggs, onions, spices etc that goes great as side dish or fillings for with sandwich, flatbread etc!

eggah

Eggah is a very popular and delicious Middle Eastern egg dish made of cooked eggs with exotic spices, herbs, nuts etc.

Eggah is similar to omelettes, frittattas etc.

eggfruit

eggfruit or egg fruit is a fruit from Southern Mexico, also known by the name canistel.

The flesh of this fruit is bright yellow in color and resembles egg yolks!

evergreen huckleberry

Evergreen huckleberry is also known by the names winter huckleberry or California huckleberry.

They are edible berries that are usually eaten fresh when ripe, or made into jams and jellies.

entawak

Entawak is a very delicious fruit with yellow orange colored flesh inside. They have thick skin and lots of seeds inside which you need to remove to enjoy the sweet, delicious fruit inside.

The seeds of the entawak fruits are also edible and often they are roasted. However, the seeds also pose choking hazard so you need to be careful with the seeds, if you are using them.

I get excited when I talk about entawak.

Because we had a lot of tall entawak trees in my parents home where I grew up and I had the luck to enjoy a lot of fresh entawaks during my childhood, though I do not find them anymore where I live.

We had a lot of trees that are really tall and the entawak fruits will often fall down once they are ripe, since we couldn’t pick them all on time.

When they fall down in the ground, they often break.

The entawak fruits in my home were also enjoyed by a lots of squirrels, and all of these are very lovely, nostalgic memories for me.

The entawak fruits resemble jackfruits, though they are small in size compared to jackfruits.

elephant foot yams

Elephant foot yams are large round shaped root vegetables. They are another thing that we had a lot in my parents home.

Elephant foot yams are often cultivated in farm lands and they usually give very good yield.

Elephant foot yams can be enjoyed in many different ways. They are peeled, and sliced and then they can be stir fried, deep fried, boiled or steamed. The elephant yam fries are really delicious!

However, many people find it difficult to handle elephant foot yams, as the skin of the elephant yams can cause itching & rashes and allergic reactions.

elephant ear pastry

Elephant ear pastry is delicious dessert popular in North America.

They are made with flour, milk, sugar etc as the main ingredients and deep fried until golden to make the delicious pastry.

egg custard

Egg custard is a delicious, but easy and simple dessert made using eggs, milk and sugar as the main ingredient.

Egg custard can be refrigerated and enjoyed plain or you can use it to make the base of many delicious pudding.

eclairs

Eclairs is a very delicious and popular pastry made using dough, chocolate and cream filling!

eccles cake

Eccles cake is a very delicious pastry originated in the United Kingdom. The pastry is filled with a very delicious currant filling and they look like small sized pies!

Egg roll cookies are delicious, crispy treats which looks and taste much like biscuit rolls! They are flaky in texture and sweet too!

eggnog trifle

Eggnog trifles are delicious trifles made using layers of eggnog puddings or eggnog cakes!

empanadas

Empanadas are very popular Spanish food and they have either savory filling or sweet pastry fillings. Though they are mostly made with meat fillings, you can also make vegetarian or vegan empanadas!

The name empanada in Spanish refers to wrapped in bread.

English muffins are one of the most popular and common breads used for North American breakfast.

They are kind of small round, thick & soft baked breads that can be enjoyed with jelly & butter or you can add any savory toppings as you like.

espresso coffee

Espresso coffee is simply coffee but made using a different brewing method resulting in a more concentrated coffee for coffee lovers!

edam cheese

Edam cheese is a cheese from Netherlands, and it is semi hard in texture. It is pale yellow in color and as it ages, it turns more harder in texture.

Emmental cheese is a kind of swiss cheese that originated in Switzerland. Emmental cheese is a semi hard cheese in texture and is stronger in taste.

Though escaroles and endives are not the same, escaroles are similar to curly endives that belong to the same plant species.

ensaimada

Ensaimada is a delicious pastry from Spain which is made of flour, sugar, eggs etc and it looks spiral in shape with a crisp texture.

egg drop soup is a popular soup made using eggs & broth.

While the popular egg drop soup recipes use meat based broth to make the soup, we can make delicious egg drop soup using vegetable broth as well!

eggo waffles

Eggo waffles are branded frozen waffles by Kellogg Company.

I love these eggo waffles and they are super easy to make and delicious too! The best part is that if you don’t have a waffle maker or if you want to make waffles quickly, eggo waffles is a great choice.

So here we have seen more than 40 foods that start with e or begin with letter e.
