So what is oat bran? Oat bran is essentially the outer layer of the whole oats grains and it is full of soluble fiber just like rice bran and wheat bran although the nutritional values of each bran can be different.
Oat bran is obtained from the grain oats, while wheat bran is obtained from the grain wheat and rice bran is obtained from the grain rice. The nutrition of each bran depends on the nutrition of each grain.
If you don’t want to cook with oats but would like to add the fiber content of the bran from oats, you can buy the oat bran and use it for cooking or baking.
For quick cooking recipes you can soak the oat bran for few hours ( not mandatory) which will make it more easy to cook with. If you only use a little oat bran in your cereal, smoothies or milkshake recipes, you can just sprinkle little oat bran while you prepare your cereal or add it to the smoothie ingredients or milkshake ingredients while you mix and blend them.

Oat bran is very good source of fiber and you can use it for baking for example you can add the oat bran to your cake recipes, muffin recipes, bread recipes etc very easily. You may need to adjust the ingredients if you are using a relatively good amount of the oat bran though.
