Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs refrigerated
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Place the inner pot inside the instant pot and make sure the instant pot is positioned in the right place, because we do not want to move the instant pot once the eggs are placed in the pot.
Add water to the instant pot.
Also add baking soda and mix well with the water.
  • Then carefully place the eggs inside the instant pot. If you are only using 6 eggs (or a couple more) like we do in this recipe, you can place them in a circle.
If you have to boil more eggs also, make sure to place the eggs in a single layer and do not place the eggs too close to each other.
You can also sprinkle some salt over the eggs and water.
  • Close the instant pot with lid in sealing position and cook in high pressure for 8 minutes for hard boiled eggs.
As I have mentioned, you may set the timer anywhere from 8 minutes to 9 minutes or even ten minutes depending on your preference of texture for hard boiled eggs.
    Here we do 8 minutes.
  • Once the instant pot is done cooking, it will beep and you can press the cancel button. Let the pressure naturally release for a 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes of natural pressure release, carefully do a gradual manual pressure release (hot steam will escape, so be careful).
  • Once the pressure is all released from the instant pot, carefully open the instant pot.
  • Transfer the boiled eggs carefully to a bowl filled with ice cold water. This is to ensure that the eggs do not cook further.
  • Let the boiled eggs sit in the ice water bath for at least few minutes until the eggs are completely cooled down. This will make the peeling of eggs comparatively an easy job.
  • Once the eggs are completely cooled, you can store the eggs in refrigerator for later use (for a couple of days) or you may peel the eggs to use them in salads or any recipes or just enjoy them as they are so delicious as their own!
