Fried Caramelized Cabbage And Onions (Without Bacon)

Fried cabbage with onions is delicious caramelized shredded cabbage and onions perfect to be served as a Southern vegetable side dish with lunch or dinner & any holiday meals like Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (about ¼th of a medium size cabbage)
  • 1 large onions sliced
  • salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or use melted butter

Instructions

  • Add the shredded cabbage and sliced onions to a large pan or skillet.
  • Also add salt, garlic and olive oil (or melted butter), stir well to combine.
  • Cook in medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage and onions are softened.
  • Add paprika and lemon juice, mix well to combine with the cabbage and onions and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the cabbage is cooked.
  • Once the cabbage is cooked, stir fry the cabbage for another 2 to 3 minutes until the cabbage and onions are lightly fried and lightly browned.
  • Continue frying for few more minutes in low heat until the cabbage and onions are well fried and caramelized.
  • Enjoy the fried caramelized cabbage and onions as a quick, easy, vegetable side dish for lunch or dinner as you wish!
