How To Melt Cheese In Microwave To Make Nacho Cheese Sauce

Microwave nacho cheese sauce made using cheddar cheese makes easy, quick, simple and delicious cheese sauce perfect for dipping or topping nachos, fries, veggies and more!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese I used sharp cheddar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • salt adjust to taste
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Place the shredded cheddar cheese in a good quality microwave safe bowl (do not use plastic even if it is microwave safe to melt cheese). Make sure to use a bowl that is large enough so the shredded cheese stay upto only about half of the bowl (this is helpful to avoid any splatter as we microwave cheese).
  • Once the cheese is placed in the microwave safe bowl, place the bowl in the microwave oven and cook for about 30 seconds.
  • Once heated for thirty seconds, carefully take out the bowl and add the salt and cayenne pepper, mix well to combine. Also add the milk to the cheese and stir in using a spoon.
  • Place the bowl back in the microwave and microwave for another 15 seconds.
  • Once it is down, carefully take the bowl outside (it might be very hot so make sure to handle carefully), stir the sauce very well until it's smooth and creamy!
  • Enjoy the cheese sauce along with nacho chips or any fries or veggies as you like! Make sure to serve this immediately for best results.
  • If you keep the cheese for longer time, it tends to thicken and lose the creamy texture, so once this cheese sauce is made, enjoy it immediately for the best results.
