Ingredients

  • Burger buns 1 or use 2 slices of regular sandwich bread
  • shredded cheese 2 tablespoons adjust the amount as needed
  • cheese slice 1
  • butter 1 tablespoon
  • romaine lettuce 1 leaf
  • sliced onion 1 ring

Instructions

  • Heat an iron skillet or non stick pan, add butter and toast the bread slices (or the buns). Make sure to toast each side until golden brown by flipping once the first side is done, for the best results. Keep the toasted sliced aside.
  • Wash the lettuce leaf and onion ring, pat dry using paper towels to avoid any moisture contents, keep these also aside separately from the toasted bread(you may slice the lettuce if you wish).
  • Take the first slice of bread, add a tablespoon of shredded cheese evenly as a single layer, microwave for 30 seconds so the cheese will melt.
  • Place the onion ring on top of the melted cheese.
  • Place the cheese slice (I used Kraft) on top of the onion.
  • Place the lettuce on top of the cheese slice.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese on the next slice of bread, and microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese melts.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top of the the first slice with layers of onion and lettuce, just gently press and seal the edges if needed. Enjoy the simple, delicious and easy to prepare cheesy sandwich as it is, or allow the sandwich to cool down to room temperature (only a few minutes is needed) before you pack this in the lunch box for the best results.

Notes

Adjust the amount of cheese as you need. This simple sandwich is easy to pack for lunch or while you are traveling too!
