Strawberry Smoothie Without Banana

Strawberry yogurt smoothie or strawberry lassi is a simple, easy, delicious and popular Indian style cold drink made using fresh strawberries and no banana is used in this recipe.
This is perfect for winter and summer for a delicious everyday drink and also perfect for a welcome drink during any party, dinner or get together.

  • ½ cup strawberries fresh and chilled or frozen
  • ½ cup yogurt chilled (or use curd or dahi)
  • ½ cup water chilled
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or use ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon rose water or rose extract or essence (optional)


  • Wash the strawberries very well and trim the ends to discard any leaves.
  • Add the washed strawberries to the blender (you may slice if you find it easier to blend it that way).
  • Add the remaining ingredients - yogurt, water, sugar and vanilla extract also to the blender.
    If using rose water or rose extract or essence, you can also add that for a more authentic, exotic flavor!
  • Blend the contents until very smooth.
  • Serve the lassi immediately for best results (make sure to use cold ingredients, you may also add 2 to 3 cubes of ice if you wish).


The lassi tastes the best when its served almost immediately but if you need to serve later, make sure to transfer to jars and store in refrigerator because the lassi will taste good only when served cold.
Also always make sure to use cold ingredients to make the lassi, like chilled yogurt, chilled water etc for the best results.
