Ingredients

  • 2 tea bags black tea bags or masala chai bags
  • 1 cup milk use whole milk for the best results
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup ice cubes or as needed
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

Make the tea

  • Add the one cup of water to a microwave safe mug or cup and heat for about 1 minute.
  • Add tea bags to the heated water and steep the tea for 3 o 4 minutes.
  • Once the tea is made, you can discard the tea bags and allow the prepared tea to cool down to room temperature.
  • Once the tea is cooled to room temperature, you can chill the tea in the refrigerator.
  • Instead of making tea using microwave, you can also boil the water in a saucepan and then add tea bags to the water to steep tea which can be used for the recipe.

Make the pumpkin foam

  • Once the tea is chilled, let's make the pumpkin foam required for the iced chai latte.
  • To make the pumpkin foam, add the milk, cream, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon powder and vanilla extract to a good quality blender.
  • Blend the contents until very smooth, creamy and frothy. If you have a hand held frother, you may use that instead of blender, to make the pumpkin foam.
  • Now the creamy and frothy pumpkin foam is ready, we have to quickly make the iced chai latte before the foam begins to disintergrate.

To make the iced chai latte with pumpkin foam

  • Add ice cubes to tall glass cup or add the ice cubes (divided) to multiple small glass cups.
  • Pour the chilled tea to about half of the cup(s) over the ice cubes.
  • Pour the prepared pumpkin foam on top of the iced tea, gently stir in. Serve immediately for best results!
  • If desired, you may top the iced chai latte with little more cinnamon powder and pumpkin spice powder!

Notes

I only added sweetener to the pumpkin foam which is gently stirred into the iced tea.
We do not stir the tea too much once the pumpkin foam is added, so if you want the tea to be really sweet, it is good idea to sweeten the tea prior to adding the pumpkin foam.
To make sweetened tea to use in this recipe, add sugar (or any sweetener of your choice) while the tea is hot itself and stir well so the sugar will dissolve into the tea.
Once the sugar is dissolved, you can chill the tea in the refrigerator!
I didn't add extra sugar to the tea, since the tea is sweet enough to me from the sweetend pumpkin foam, but you can decide on this based on your personal preference for sweetness.
