Ingredients

  • 12 oz extra wide egg noodles (equivalent to about 3 cups of dry noodles)
  • 6 quartz water
  • salt as needed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter to 6 tablespoons
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic freshly minced or use 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley leaves
  • 2 cups shredded cheese I use mexican blend or cheddar, optional
  • 2 cups pasta sauce marinara or any pasta sauce of your choice, optional

Instructions

To cook al dente noodles:

  • Add water to a large pot or saucepan and bring the water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling well, carefully add the extra wide egg noodles.
  • Also add salt and olive oil, stir and cook in medium to high heat for 6 minutes (check the package directions to see the cooking time they suggest for making al dente noodles, if it is different than 6 minutes, then follow the instructions in the package).
  • Make sure to keep the timer on, so you do not overcook the noodles.
  • Stir the noodles a couple of times, while the noodles is cooking.
  • Once the timer goes off, gently stir the noodles, see if it's cooked (it will further soften as it cools down), and turn off the heat.
  • Carefully drain the remaining hot water from the pot and transfer the cooked al dente noodles to a different bowl or you can transfer it to a large skillet or pan for making a meal out of the al dente noodles.

To make buttered noodles from al dente noodles:

  • Melt butter in a large skillet or pan and add the garlic and stir fry.
  • Aslo add the noodles and onion powder and stir fry for about a minute (if you have already added the noodles to the skillet, you can also add the butter and garlic directly to the noodles and then heat to stir fry the contents together).
  • Add the dried parsley leaves and black pepper powder, gently mix in tocombine with the noodles, serve hot!
  • If using the shredded cheese, you can add that too and mix in with the noodles.
Also you can sprinkle more black pepper powder if you like!
  • Also, if you wish to add any pasta sauce (if you do not like the slight eggy flavor of egg noodles, adding a little sauce can change that!), add that too and mix with the noodles.
  • Serve the egg noodles hot or you can store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave or stove top as needed!
