Greek yogurt works as a great substitute for sour cream in many recipes and if you want to make any sauce or dips using greek yogurt in place of sour cream, this recipe helps as it makes greek yogurt taste so much more like sour cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Place the greek yogurt in a bowl & whisk very well so there are no lumps in the yogurt and it's very smooth and creamy in texture.
  • Add the heavy cream and stir well to combine.
  • Also add the lemon juice and mix well to combine with the yogurt mixture.
    You may taste the greek yogurt substitute for sour cream that you made and you may add little more cream or lemon juice if needed, to adjust to your taste preferences.
  • If not using immediately, keep it chilled for best results & serve with anything as you desire!
    Some suggestions will be to serve it as a sauce to dip nachos, fries, vegetables, serve over baked potatoes etc.

Notes

If you are using greek yogurt to substitute sour cream in cooking like hot soups or anything that involves hot liquids, keep in mind that any yogurt can curdle and so it will be a good idea to just mix in the yogurt substitute once the dish is made and it's cooled to room temperature or slightly warm so the mixture won't curdle.
If it's added early on, you run the risk of yogurt curdling unless you whisk the yogurt very well to combine with the dish so it has less chance to curdle while cooking.
