4teaspoonsbutteror as needed for greasing the pan and making toast
Instructions
In a large bowl, crack the eggs and beat well using a fork.
Add milk, sugar, vanilla extract, mix well to combine.
Keep the bread slices ready in a plate or serving dish so you can easily use them to make the toast.
Heat a good quality iron skillet or non stick pan. Grease with little butter.
Dip the first bread slice in the egg milk mixture, and immediately place it in the hot pan.
Let the bread cook in medium heat for about 2 minutes until the bottom side is well cooked and some brown spots have formed.
Carefully flip the bread using a good quality steel spatula and cook the other side too for another 1 to 2 minutes until the bread is well toasted.
Once the first slice of french is made, carefully transfer it to the serving plate.
Similarly toast all the bread slices and transfer the prepared french toast slices to the serving plate.
If there is any excess of egg milk mixture, you may toast another one or two slices of bread as well (optional).
Once all the slices of bread are toasted, you can enjoy it as it is or serve it more toppings like powdered sugar, maple syrup, honey, sliced fresh fruits like bananas or fresh berries like blueberries, strawberries etc or you can also serve it heavy whipped cream for a more fancy breakfast or brunch!
