French toast is a favorite of kids and adults alike and it's rich, delicious and filling. The best part is that this easy breakfast also makes a special breakfast perfect for weekends, holidays, celebrations etc or even for busy weekday mornings. They are also great as evening snacks or after school snacks!

    Just make sure the bread you choose is not too soft and crumbly in texture, since those kinds won't hold well when you dip in the batter.

    You can use white sandwich bread or whole wheat bread slices to make french toast based on your diet and preferences.

    Best breads that are popular used in making french toast include brioche bread, french baguette, challah bread, Italian bread, plain white sandwich bread etc though you can make them using any good quality bread that is not too soft or crumbly in texture.

    sugar 4 tablespoons

    milk 1 cup

    vanilla extract 1 teaspoon

    butter 4 teaspoons or as needed for greasing the pan and making toast

    Step by step instructions

    In a large bowl, crack the eggs and beat well using a fork.

    Add milk, sugar, vanilla extract, mix well to combine.

    Keep the bread slices ready in a plate or serving dish so you can easily use them to make the toast.

    Heat a good quality iron skillet or non stick pan. Grease with little butter.

    Dip the first bread slice in the egg milk mixture, and immediately place it in the hot pan.

    Let the bread cook in medium heat for about 2 minutes until the bottom side is well cooked and some brown spots have formed.

    Carefully flip the bread using a good quality steel spatula and cook the other side too for another 1 to 2 minutes until the bread is well toasted.

    Once the first slice of french is made, carefully transfer it to the serving plate.

    Similarly toast all the bread slices and transfer the prepared french toast slices to the serving plate.

    If there is any excess of egg milk mixture, you may toast another one or two slices of bread as well (optional).
