Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries I used fresh strawberries, chilled
  • 1 cup yogurt may use greek yogurt for thicker texture
  • 4 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  • Wash the strawberries very well, remove the greens.
  • If you are using large sized strawberries, slice them in halves or quarters.
  • Place the cleaned strawberries in a blender or food processor.
  • Add yogurt and sugar also and blend the contents until smooth!
  • Transfer the prepared strawberry yogurt to bowls, top with more sliced strawberries if you wish, enjoy!
  • You can also enjoy this as a simple, easy and quick strawberry smoothie for breakfast or snack.
  • The strawberry yogurt made in this way usually has thinner texture similar to that of smoothies, you may use the second method for a thicker texture and also if you want chunks of strawberries in the yogurt instead of a very smooth texture.

Alternate Method To Make Strawberry Yogurt:

  • After washing and removing the greens from the strawberries, slice them small.
  • Then add the sliced strawberries to a saucepan.
  • Also add the sugar, mix well and cook in low to medium heat for about 5 to 6 minutes until you get the texture of strawberry sauce (keep stirring often to avoid the strawberries burning at the bottom of the pan).
  • Once the strawberry sauce is made, allow the mixture to cool down.
  • Once it is cooled to room temperature, whisk yogurt in a separate large bowl.
  • Add the prepared strawberry sauce little by little to the whisked yogurt, stir in with the yogurt until desired consistency is reached.
When using homemade or storebought sauce, only add few spoons of strawberry sauce at a time to make sure you have the desired flavor (you may not need to use the entire sauce at the same time and you can save any leftovers for later use in clean, dry glass jars and keep it refrigerated where it stays fresh for another few more days).
Also you may add more sweetener if desired.
  • You may also run the prepared strawberry yogurt through a food processor or blender for a smooth but thinner texture if desired.
  • Serve the strawberry yogurt chilled for best results!
  • To save the yogurt for using later, transfer the strawberry yogurt to clean, dry glass jars and keep refrigerated until ready to use!
The strawberry yogurt will keep fresh in the refrigerator for another 2 to 3 days or you may freeze the yogurt in ice cube trays for even longer time.
If you have store bought or homemade strawberry sauce or strawberry compote, you can use that to make strawberry yogurt instead of making it from scratch.
You may also use strawberry jam or strawberry spread to make strawberry flavored yogurt from plain yogurt.
