    coffee milk tea

Coffee milk tea is a drink popular in Hong Kong where it is also known by the name 'yuenyeung', and this is an attempt to make a similar drink at home, though it's not an authentic version of the same.

This homemade drink is easy to make, simple but delicious and has a very distinct, unique flavor from either coffee or tea.

    What is coffe milk tea?

Coffee milk tea is simply a delicious drink made using both coffee & tea.

There are many ways to prepare this easy, delicious drink.

The first method is to brew a cup of coffee, add milk and sugar then steep tea bag in it to make the drink, which is the method I have used in this easy recipe.

    coffee milk tea

You can make the coffee the old fashioned way or using instant coffee powder if you want to make it more quickly and easily.

The second method is to make the milk tea first and then add instant coffee powder to the prepared tea to make the drink.

Basically, you make either milk tea or milk coffee first and then add the other one to it to make coffee milk tea!

Instead of tea bags, you can also use tea leaves or tea powder to make tea in a saucepan, but you will need to filter through a good fine mesh strainer, if you are using tea leaves or tea powder to discard the residue.

Using tea bags & instant coffee powder, is the most easy, simple and quick way to make this coffee milk tea, so we are following the most easy method here using tea bag and instant coffee powder in this recipe!

How does coffee milk tea taste like?

Coffee milk tea combine the flavors of coffee and tea, and it really has a very unique flavor and taste different from either coffee or tea.

I am not sure what others think on this, however, I felt the taste was comparable to millet based drinks made using brown sugar or jaggery (kind of palm sugar popular in India).

The taste could also slightly vary based on the kind of tea or coffee that you use.

In this recipe, I have used black tea bag and instant coffee powder to make the drink.

So here is how you can quickly and easily make this delicious instant drink at home following this recipe.

How to make coffee milk tea?

To make homemade coffee milk tea, we use the following ingredients.

    ingredients used

    water ¾ cup

milk ½ cup (may use little more if needed)

    instant coffee powder 1 teaspoon

sugar 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)

    black tea bag 1

    Step by step instructions

    Prepare the milk coffee first

Add the water, milk, instant coffee powder and sugar to a saucepan and heat the mixture while you stir often to avoid the mixture burning at the bottom of the pan.

Once it's heated, the milk coffee is ready, and you can transfer it to a coffee mug.

    Prepare the coffee milk tea

Place the tea bag in the prepared milk coffee in coffee mug and let it steep for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Once the tea is steeped, discard the tea bag, stir the coffee milk tea and enjoy!

    To make iced drink

To make iced coffee milk tea, allow the prepared drink to cool down to room temperature.

Once it is done, chill the drink in refrigerator for a couple of hours or until it is well chilled.

Once the drink is cold enough, add ice cubes to a serving cup and pour the coffee milk tea over the ice cubes. Enjoy!

Notes: To add tapioca pearls or boba pearls, you can cook the boba pearls separately following the directions in the package and add to the iced coffee milk tea to make delicious boba drink.

Below you can get the recipe in detail.
