    Fried caramelized cabbage and onions without bacon makes one of the most easy, delicious meatless, vegetarian cabbage recipes ever!

    It is super easy to make with fresh green cabbage or white cabbage & few other ingredients. This is a simple but great, delicious, nutritious and cheap vegetable side dish perfect for any lunch, dinner including any holiday meals like Christmas or Thanksgiving as well. You can also use any onions for this recipe including yellow onios, white onions or red onions, but in my opinion the slight sweet flavor of yellow onions pairs best with the cabbage in this recipe!

    • garlic powder 1 teaspoon (or 2 cloves garlic finely minced)

    • lemon juice 1 tablespoon
    • olive oil 3 tablespoons (or use melted butter)

    • Add the shredded cabbage and sliced onions to a large pan or skillet.
    • Also add salt, garlic and olive oil (or melted butter), stir well to combine.

      I have been making this for years! It is a good basic dish . I cook it long and slow, and often add leftover chicken, pork, sausage, etc. sometimes I add noodles. I consider it comfort food.
