    Instant Pot Boiled Small Baby Red Potatoes (Mini Potatoes)

    Perfect boiled mini potatoes or small sized baby red potatoes in the instant pot without trivet! These boiled baby potatoes are small or mini petite gourmet potatoes that can be quickly prepared in the instant pot and they are perfect to make skin on mashed baby red potatoes or other baby red potato dishes as they are cooked soft, perfect for mashing!

    You do not need to peel these small red potatoes before boiling them (unless they have dirt which you are not able to clean), as they are perfect with skin on even for making mashed potatoes.

    You can also simply season them with salt and pepper, or you can make a quick buttered potatoes using any leftover boiled potatoes to make a delicious side dish.

    Boiled baby red poatoes are also very delicious when made on stove top, but we use the instant pot pressure cooker method in this recipe!

    I have also made this boiled yellow yukon gold potatoes in instant pot, which is super easy as well, but they are not small baby potatoes and so the cooking time is different for medium or large sized potatoes.

    How long to boil baby red potatoes in instant pot?

    Since the aim is to have soft mashing consistency, we boil the small baby red potatoes for about 12 minutes in the instant pot in high pressure followed by a natural pressure release for at least another twelve to fifteen minutes.

    That is how long you need to boil the petite small baby red potatoes in instant pot pressure cooker!

    If you want to make mashed potatoes, it is a good idea to wait for a complete natural release of pressure if you are not in a hurry.

    We can make boiled baby red potatoes in the instant pot by following the below directions.

    Ingredients to make boiled baby red potatoes in instant pot

    baby red potatoes 24 oz bag (equivalento 1 lbs and 8 oz)

    water 1 cup

    salt as needed

    Step by step instructions

    Wash the baby red potatoes very well and add them to the instant pot.

    Also the water and salt, gently mix in. Make sure to place the baby potatoes in a single layer so they get cooked evenly.

    Cover the instant pot with lid in sealing position and cook in high pressure for 15 minutes.

    Wait for a natural pressure release for about 12 minutes, then do a careful gradual manual pressure release to release any remaining pressure.

    Once the pressure is all released, carefully open the lid of the instant pot.

    Transfer the boiled baby potatoes to a serving bowl and season with salt and pepper or add any seasonings, olive oil etc as you desire.

    If you wish to make buttered baby red potatoes, drain all water from the pot and press saute.

    Once the water content is all gone from the pot, add about 2 tablespoons of butter.

    Once the butter melts, saute the potatoes in the butter for couple of minutes to make delicious buttered potatoes!

    Make sure to serve the prepared baby red potatoes while it's still warm for best results!

    If you decide to keep the potatoes in the potatoes so they will be warm, make sure to drain all water and then keep just the potatoes in the pot so they will stay warm in the pot without getting overcooked in the leftover water.

    You may store these instant pot boiled baby red potatoes in air tight food containers in refrigerator so they stay fresh for three to four days or even upto a week, if stored properly.
