Easy, quick and delicious tropical & citrus flavored breakfast smoothie made using seedless mandarin oranges, orange juice and bananas! You may use fresh mandarin oranges or canned mandarin oranges like dole mandarin oranges in juice or frozen mandarin oranges if you can freeze the orange segments in advance! Also try this banana orange juice and banana pineapple juice smoothie if you like tropical flavored banana drinks!

The banana orange juice smoothie made of bananas, mandarin oranges and orange juice & also milk is sweetened with a little honey and it tastes much like an orange creamsicle smoothie!

Tangerines and clementines are two varieties of madarin oranges, you may use any kind of mandarin oranges, just make sure to use sweet & slightly sour ones for the best results and also make sure to use seedless or remove the seeds before you add them to blender.

You may also use canned mandarin oranges like dole mandarin oranges in the can or fresh mandarin oranges as we used in this recipe.

Mandarin Orange Substitutes To Make Smoothie

I have used fresh seedless mandarin oranges in this smoothie along with a little fresh orange juice, but you can use canned mandarin oranges in juice as well.

Canned mandarin oranges are available as orange segments in orange juice which can be substituted for fresh oranges & orange juice since the canned product already has the juice.

However, if you do not have orange juice, you can just use the oranges and use chilled icy water instead of juice and it will still be very delicious without using additional orange juice!

You may also replace mandarin oranges with other oranges like navel oranges etc, just make sure they are seedless oranges or remove the seeds before you add them to the blender to make the smoothie.

In fact, you can use any kind of juicy & fresh oranges that are sweet and slightly tangy in taste, to make the smoothie, if you make sure there are no seeds.

Once you add the oranges to the blender, it's really hard to find any seeds and if there are orange seeds, the smoothie may taste bitter which is something we don't want.

So if you think the oranges have seeds, separate the segments and slice in halves to see & remove any seeds that could be inside the oranges.

Once the seeds are all removed, you can add the prepared oranges to the blender along with other ingredients and make the smoothie!

Dairy Free, Vegan Substitutes To Make Smoothie

In this banana orange juice smoothie, I have used milk as well & also I have used honey to sweeten the smoothie.

To make the smoothie dairy free, you can replace milk with almond milk or coconut milk as you like!

To make the smoothie vegan, you can replace the milk with plant based alternatives like almond milk or coconut milk and also replace the honey with maple syrup, stevia etc or use any of your favorite sweeteners or you may even skip the sweetener if you do not want it very sweet.

mandarin oranges 3 (seedless) (frozen segments or just chilled)

orange juice ½ cup chilled (or ice water)

milk (or almond milk) 2 cups chilled

honey 2 tablespoons

Notes: you can replace fresh mandarin oranges & orange juice with canned mandarins in it's own juice

Step by step instructions

Add the bananas and oranges (peeled and make sure there are no seeds) to the blender.

Also add the milk, orange juice and honey, blend until smooth.

In this orange juice smoothie, we also use milk. Since we combine milk and orange juice, there is an increased chance of smoothie to curdle, if you keep it for long in room temperatures.
