Tips To Make Creamy Banana Milkshake Without Ice Cream

To make creamy banana milkshake without ice cream, make sure to choose the perfect bananas.

If the bananas are over ripe, the texture of the milkshake won’t be nice.

If the bananas are under ripe also, the milkshake won’t taste good.

The key to making creamy banana milkshake without ice cream likes in choosing the right bananas.

When the bananas are completely ripe with bright yellow skin and the brown spots are only beginning to appear in the banana peel, they are at the right stage to be used in milkshakes.

When the bananas are too ripe and have too many brown spots in the peel, they are the best for baking banana bread, banana mini muffins, chocolate banana muffins, banana cake etc or even you can use them in banana pancakes or fried banana balls or fried banana bread batter.

However, to make creamy and delicious banana milkshake, always try to use bananas that are ripe and have a bright yellow skin with brown spot beginning to appear. If you gently press the bananas over the skin, they should be soft but not mushy.

That way, the texture of the bananas will be the most creamy naturally and the milkshake will be creamy in texture too!

Also, when making milkshakes without ice cream, make sure to use whole milk (or even add some heavy cream or whipping cream) to make it perfectly creamy and delicious.

Since we are not using any ice cream in the milkshake, it is important to add a little vanilla extract for the flavor.

You may even add a little banana flavor or banana milkshake powder if you like.

Fresh Or Frozen Bananas For Making Milkshake?

It depends on your personal preference. If you want very frosty milkshake which is super thick in texture, it is ideal to choose frozen bananas.

You can slice the bananas when they are ripe enough, and then freeze the slices for making milkshake. You may even use frozen milk (you can freeze milk in ice cube trays) if you want.

I usually make this milkshake with fresh bananas (as that is what I mostly have in hand) and use chilled milk which is perfectly fine for me and my kids too love it that way!

So here is how you can make banana milkshake without ice cream.

Notes: You may also add ice creams like vanilla ice cream or banana ice cream (about 1 cup will be enough) while making this milkshake to make it even more creamy and rich.

You can also add other flavors of ice creams like strawberry ice cream to make strawberry banana milkshake, or use chocolate ice cream to make chocolate banana milkshake etc.

In fact, banana flavor goes very well with many other flavors so you can easily add more flavors or other fruits or ice cream to try different combinations of flavors!

To make this vegan, you can easily replace the milk with plant based milks like almond milk, cashew milk or oat milk.

To make vegan milkshake with bananas, I like to use cashew milk or oat milk in place of regular milk.

If you like the flavor of coconut milk, you may also use coconut milk.

Banana milkshake tastes the best when served immediately after preparation. This is because, the milkshake using bananas slightly changes in taste when kept for long and won’t taste so good.

If you wish to store this milkshake for longer time to serve later, I recommend freezing the milkshake in freezer safe containers.

It is a good idea to transfer the milkshake to ice cube trays and store in the freezer, if you want to use it later (for few more days). Just before serving, you can blend the frozen milkshake in the blender for the best results!
