- ¼ cups sugar
- ½ cup butter softened
- 2 eggs large
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients - cornmeal, flour, salt and baking powder, until the ingredients are mixed evenly.
- In a separate bowl, add the softened butter and sugar, mix well to combine.
- In a third bowl, beat the eggs well. Add vanilla extract and also 1 cup of milk to the beaten eggs, stir well to combine.
- Add the butter sugar mixture to the milk egg mixture, stir well.
- Now add the wet ingredients mixture (butter sugar egg milk mixture) to the dry flour mixture. Mix well to combine. Finally add the remaining ¼ cup of milk also to the bowl and mix everything well to form the cornbread batter.
To bake the cornbread:
- Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
- Grease a baking pan with oil or butter and line with parchment paper if you wish (for easy slicing of cornbread later).
- Pour the prepared cornbread batter to the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted through the center of the cornbread comes out clean (without any raw batter sticking in it).
