How To Make Creamy Spinach Feta Cheese Dip With Sauteed Spinach & Feta?
To make creamy spinach feta cheese at home, we use the following ingredients.
Ingredients
spinach leaves 12 oz (I used baby spinach leaves)
feta cheese 12 oz block (or crumbled)
salt ¼ teaspoon
garlic powder 1 teaspoon
onion powder ½ teaspoon
dried minced onions ½ cup
black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
dried basil 1 teaspoon
olive oil 2 tablespoons
honey 2 tablespoons
heavy cream 2 tablespoons (optional)
Step by step instructions
Place the spinach leaves in a large frying pan.
Cook in medium low heat until the leaves begin to wilt.
Add salt, oil and all spice powders and also dried minced onions, mix well and cook for couple of minutes until the spinach leaves are well sauteed and the flavors are well blended with the spinach.
Now place the feta cheese block in the frying pan, change the heat to low and crumble the cheese using your spatula, carefully.
If you find this difficult to do in the pan, you can crumble the cheese separately and add the crumbled feta cheese directly to the spinach leaves in the pan.
Once the feta cheese is added, also add the honey, stir well to combine with the rest of the ingredients.
Keep the heat at low and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the mixture is creamy.
Stir the contents and add heavy cream and more seasoning (like more black pepper, dried basil etc) as desired.
Serve hot as a dip or creamy sauce with french bread, crackers, veggies, nachos, fries etc as you like.
This is best served hot, as the cheese will thicken as it cools down.
Notes: Feta cheese is salty in taste so make sure you do not add a lot of salt in this recipe.
The addition of honey is to balance out the salty taste of the dish which works perfectly well by adding a sweet taste.
Also, as I mentioned early, this dish is best served as soon as it is made. The creamy texture thickens as it sits on and you may not be able to use it as a dip or spread later.
