How To Make Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cookies?

    applesauce chocolate chip cookies

Making these easy homemade applesauce chocolate chip cookies is simple. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients

Place the all-purpose flour in a large mixing bowl.

Add the baking powder, cinnamon powder, and sugar to the flour. Mix everything well so that the dry ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 2: Add Half of the Applesauce

Add 4 ounces of applesauce, which is half of the total amount of applesauce needed for the recipe, to the flour mixture.

Mix well using a spoon until the applesauce is incorporated into the dry ingredients.

Step 3: Add the Remaining Ingredients

Add the remaining 4 ounces of applesauce to the mixture.

Also add the oil, vanilla extract, and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Using clean hands, knead and mix everything well until a soft cookie dough or cookie batter is formed.

Step 4: Chill the Cookie Dough

Place the prepared cookie dough in the refrigerator and chill for about 30 minutes.

Chilling the dough helps make it easier to handle before baking.

    STEP 5: BAKE THE COOKIES

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Using a tablespoon, scoop portions of the cookie dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Leave enough space between each cookie.

I made approximately 10 large cookies, but you can divide the dough into smaller portions to make about 12 to 14 cookies.

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 14 minutes, or until the cookies are baked through.

Once the cookies are done, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven.

Transfer the baked cookies immediately from the hot baking sheet to a cool surface.

The cookies will be very soft while they are hot. As they cool, they will become firmer in texture while still remaining soft and delicious.

Tips To Make the Best Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cookies

Do Not Skip Chilling the Dough

Chilling the cookie dough for about 30 minutes helps make the dough easier to work with before baking.

Allow the Cookies To Cool Completely

These applesauce cookies will be very soft immediately after baking. Allow them to cool before serving so they can firm up properly.

    Adjust the Cookie Size

This recipe makes about 10 large cookies. For smaller cookies, divide the dough into smaller portions to make approximately 12 to 14 cookies.

    Use Good Quality Chocolate Chips

Since chocolate is one of the main flavors in these cookies, good quality semi-sweet chocolate chips can make the finished cookies even more delicious.

How To Serve Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cookies?

These soft homemade cookies are delicious on their own and can be enjoyed as a snack or dessert.

They also pair wonderfully with your favorite beverages, including:

    • Cinnamon tea
    • Coffee

    • Cold milk

The combination of warm cinnamon, applesauce, vanilla, and chocolate makes these cookies especially comforting with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

How To Store Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cookies?

    applesauce chocolate chip cookies

Allow the cookies to cool completely before storing them.

Store the cookies in an airtight container to help maintain their freshness and soft texture.

Because these cookies are made with applesauce and have a soft texture, they are best enjoyed fresh within a few days.
