watermelon strawberry banana smoothie

I enjoy watermelon not just in summer but whenever I get access to one, simply because watermelon is one of my favorite fruits.

And strawberry is definitely my most favorite fruit or at least close to peaches, so you can see many strawberry recipes, peach recipes and also some watermelon recipes in this blog, though my most favorite thing to make with a fresh watermelon is fresh watermelon juice.

Adding bananas to smoothies give them texture naturally and also helps to make the smoothie slightly thicker than making a watermelon smoothie without banana.

What goes good with watermelon in a smoothie?

watermelons and strawberries

Watermelon pairs well with fruits like strawberries, bananas, pineapple etc and you can make delicious smoothies combining watermelons and strawberries, watermelon and pineapple etc!

Bananas always add a great texture to smoothies so you can add them to watermelon strawberry smoothie, watermelon pineapple smoothie etc.

In fact, watermelon and strawberries, watermelon and pineapple etc are great combineations.

I have made fresh watermelon pineapple juice which is very delicious, refreshing tropical fruit juice!

Fresh mint leaves, blueberries etc also goes very well with watermelon.

While making watermelon smoothie, it is a good idea to use only very little liquid since there is so much water content in the watermelon.

You may also use coconut water instead of plain water to make delicious watermelon smoothies.

Texture of watermelon strawberry banana smoothie

watermelon strawberry banana smoothie

Watermelon is a very watery fruit and watermelon smoothies may not have a very thick texture like other smoothies made without watermelons.

Strawberries and bananas are really good for making a smoothie thicker in texture, however, when you add watermelon, the water from the watermelon fruit tends to thin down the smoothie slightly.

If you want a thicker smoothie, you may freeze the fruits (especially bananas and strawberries) in advance to making the smoothie.

But a watermelon smoothie is naturally refreshing and delicious and since we add bananas, strawberries and also yogurt, the smoothie is also creamy!

So here is how you can make easy, homemade watermelon strawberry banana smoothie using fresh or frozen watermelons, strawberries and bananas.

How Long Does Watermelon Smoothie Last – Storing Watermelon Smoothie

Watermelon smoothie is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.

I really do not prefer storing watermelon smoothie in the fridge for longer time (and never at room temperature more than a few minutes!) because the smoothie may not stay fresh and the water from the watermelon can change the texture of the smoothie as it sits for longer time.

If you decide to store the watermelon strawberry banana smoothie in the fridge, you may store jars or pitchers and store for few more hours and make sure to use the same day. It is a good idea to blend the smoothie again just before serving, or the texture could be different.

If you want to save the watermelon smoothie for longer periods, it is a good idea to transfer the smoothie to ice cube trays and freeze in the freezer since smoothies tend to freeze well if stored properly.

In fact, storing the watermelon smoothie in the freezer is a better idea than storing it in the fridge.

Just before serving, you can use the frozen watermelon smoothie cubes and blend again in a good quality high power blender to make delicious smoothie!
