If you want to make larger quantities of tea, you will need to heat the water separately on stove top and then steep the tea bags in prepared hot water.

If you want to just double the amount of tea, just double the amount of water and also double other ingredients accordingly. Steeping time for the tea remains the same.

To prepare more servings of tea, you can increase the amount of ingredients accordingly.

What Is Honey Green Tea?

Honey green tea is nothing but herbal green tea sweetened with honey which is a natural sweetener.

I used raw honey to make this tea, which is even better because of it’s health benefits.

There are different ways to make this sweetened tea, like popular iced tea with honey and ginseng which is much popular in Arizona and many other places.

However, this is a simple honey sweetened green tea without ginseng and you can easily make this at home!

The color of green tea is usually light green, but this sweetened tea with honey is golden brown in color as we add golden colored honey to the tea!

How to make green tea less bitter and taste better?

green tea with honey

Green tea can taste bitter if you steep the tea bags for longer time.

Also using less water and more tea bags will make the tea taste more bitter, naturally.

We simply warm a cup of water in the microwave using a microwave safe cup or mug and then add the tea bag in the water and allow the tea to steep (let the tea bag rest in the water) for about 3 minutes time.

Steeping the tea bags for longer time may cause bitterness in the tea.

To make the green tea taste better while retaining the health benefits of the the tea, just steep the tea for about three minutes time and then stir in the honey to sweeten it!

It is as simple as it is!

Benefits of green tea with honey

Green tea is full of antioxidants and probably you already know many health benefits of green tea!

Green tea is believed to be very good to be included in the diet, especially for weightloss, though it needs to be consumed in moderation because too much anything is not recommended.

I usually only have 2 to 3 cups of green tea a week because I also want to have my coffee everyday and also I like to enjoy other varieties of teas like chamomile tea, hibiscus tea, milk tea, masala tea etc!

You can read about the health benefits of green tea here & find more details about green tea facts, varieties, side effects and health benefits from here.

Honey also has lots of health benefits and pure, raw honey has so much medicinal properties. You can read more about the health benefits of raw honey and also risks here.

If you do not want to use raw honey, you can use regular honey in this tea recipe.

Mixing prepared green tea with honey helps the green tea taste better and also it’s a great way to get the benefits of both green tea and honey!

Enjoy the tea hot, warm or you can cool down the tea to room temperature and then refrigerate the tea for a couple of hours to chill it and serve it with ice cubes if you wish to have iced green tea!

Can you double or make more servings of tea?

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, we can easily increase the servings of green tea by increasing the ingredients accordingly.

The steeping time will remain the same even when you increase the amounts.

However, unless you are doubling the amounts of ingredients to make just two cups of green tea (which can be made easily in two microwave safe cups), it will be more easier to heat the required amount of water in a saucepan on stove top.

This is because smaller amounts are usually more convenient with the microwave method.

With the stove top method, once the water is heated, you can add the green tea bags in the pan itself, then steep the tea and then add the required amount of honey to make the sweetened green tea!

To make i iced tea, just cool down the tea to room temperature and then chill in the refrigerator. Once it’s chilled, you can serve the tea with added ice cubes for best results.

If you are making a large batch of tea, you will probably want to store the tea for longer time.

In that case, you can store in the refrigerator itself for a coouple of days and for longer storage, you can transfer the tea to ice cube trays and store for some more time.

Below you can get the recipe for simple and easy microwave tea with green tea bags and honey in detail.

Because of its caffeine content, green tea improves alertness. So it can be had in the mornings to jumpstart your day. However, do not have it on an empty stomach. Also, taking it closer to your bedtime is not recommended, as it might cause sleeping issues.

Thank you for sharing this! I agree, tea & coffee are usually best taken in the morning I think, though I like chamomile tea closer to bedtime as well!
