I've been microwaving my tea for over 40 years. Fill a mug (12 water,), add the tea bag and microwave for 2 minutes at high power (1000 watt oven) Remove from oven, let it sit 30 sec. pr more, remove bag and drink as soon as it is cool enough. Super easy, and I've NEVER had a tea bag catch on fire. Most bags today do not have metal staple, just string slotted into a paper label.
