    flavored chamomile teas

    • Chamomile Citrus Tea
    • Chamomile Vanilla Tea
    • Chamomile Honey Vanilla Tea
    • Ginger Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is made from dried chamomile flowers and so naturally chamomile tea is a caffeine free drink.

You can read more about chamomile here and also find many uses of chamomile here.

Chamomile flower tea is the perfect natural drink if you love mild herbal teas.

One of the most common questions asked is how to make chamomile tea taste better as the tea itself is quite mild and may feel bland to some without any flavor enhancers or sweeteners.

If you are wondering how to make chamomile tea taste better and if you are in a hurry, try this honey vanilla chamomile tea which is delicious on its own!

If you are in a hurry, this is what I use often to make the unflavored chamomile tea taste better naturally.

what does chamomile tea taste like?

Chamomile tea is a mild herbal tea made from dried chamomile flowers (daisy flowers) and it has a very mild flowery flavor and taste.

It's not sweet on its own nor its bitter in taste unless you add too many tea bags to increase the flavor. I usually like to add one or two chamomile tea bags to make one cup of chamomile tea.

If you want more mild tea, you can just use one tea bag and if you want more chamomile flavor, you may use more tea bags.

However, if you like strong flavored teas, chamomile tea may seem quite bland to you and you may like to add new flavors to it to make it taste better.

Read more about what does chamomile tea taste like here.

how to make chamomile tea taste better without using sugar?

Don't get me wrong, regular chamomile tea tastes good even with out sugar, sweetener or any flavor enhancers.

I love to drink chamomile tea as it is even without any sweeteners or flavors, although I love to add raw honey as well and enjoy it as well when I want to flavor it.

However, I know that not everyone enjoys the chamomile tea just as it is, because the flavor of chamomile tea is quite subtle and mild.

If you do not want to use sugar but want to make the chamomile tea taste better without sugar, you can try raw honey (just like I do sometimes!) or you can use other natural sweeteners like pure maple syrup (make sure to use the natural 100% pure maple syrup) or your favorite natural sweeteners.

I also have this honey green tea recipe here where green tea is sweetened with honey and you can also find there tips to make green tea without making it taste bitter!

chamomile tea for young children (do not use honey)

However, keep in mind that if you are making chamomile tea for a baby (if advised by a doctor) or smaller children, you should not use honey to sweeten the tea, since honey is not recommended for young children. You can read more information about why you should not give honey to young children here.

I am not a doctor and this post is meant for informational purpose and discussions only, so if you are making tea for babies or younger children, always make sure to discuss with the child's doctor before trying anything herbal including chamomile tea and you might look for other options to sweeten the tea as you cannot use honey.

You can read here the best chamomile tea recipes along with more tips on how to make chamomile tea taste better.

    does chamomile tea has caffeine?

No, chamomile tea made from natural chamomile flowers does not have caffeine.

Chamomile tea is a herbal tea made of chamomile flowers and it is caffeine free which makes it the perfect choice for those who are looking for caffeine free tea & drinks to add to their diet.

Since the chamomile tea is naturally caffeine free, it may be a better option than regular tea or coffee for some people who have to limit their caffeine intake.

However chamomile tea is a herbal tea and those who have allergy to chamomile or daisy flowers should not use it.

Also if you have any medical conditions for which you take medicines, please check with your doctor before taking any new herbs or herbal teas.

I am not a doctor so if you have any medical concerns over any herbal teas including chamomile tea you should check with your doctor first, and you may use the article only for discussion purposes.

You can make fresh chamomile tea from dried chamomile flowers or you can buy natural chamomile tea bags to make the chamomile tea easily.

If you use dried chamomile flowers powder, you can use almost 1 tablespoon of dried powder in place of 1 chamomile tea bag (that is either use 1 tablespoon dry chamomile tea powder or use chamomile 1 tea bag). If you want more strong flavor, you can use two teabags instead of one teabag.

how to make chamomile tea from tea bags?

Chamomile tea bags are made using dried chamomile flowers and you can easily make chamomile tea at your home using chamomile tea bags.

Here I will show you two chamomile tea recipes, one chamomile tea recipe on stove top and the other chamomile tea recipe on microwave.

The microwave chamomile tea recipe is quick and instant tea recipe which is super easy to make.

The first chamomile tea recipe on stove top discusses how to make chamomile tea recipe on stove top which is the traditional method of making chamomile tea.

As I already mentioned above, I use pure raw organic honey to make chamomile tea taste better.

You can also use other natural sweeteners like pure maple syrup, stevia etc if that is your preference.

You can use more natural ingredients other than the natural sweeteners to make chamomile tea taste better for both stove top method and microwave method.

I will add this information towards the end of this post. Let us see the chamomile tea recipes first!

I am using chamomile tea bags for the chamomile tea recipes here.

If you are using dried chamomile powder, you can filter the tea before you drink it.

So here you can see the recipe for chamomile tea from tea bags.

ingredients used to make chamomile tea

    • 2 chamomile tea bags
    • 1 cup water
    • 2 tablespoons honey (do not use honey if making for young children)

    step by step instructions

To make chamomile tea using microwave

    • Heat the water in microwave for 1 minute in a microwave safe cup.
    • Add the chamomile tea bags to the hot water, let it sit for about 5 minutes.
    • I use a steel spoon to gently press the tea bag into the water, so it won’t float on top.
    • After 5 minutes, remove the tea bag (you can squeeze the tea bag to add the last bit of flavor to the cup of tea), add the honey and mix well using a spoon.
    • Enjoy the warm chamomile tea and relax yourself! If you want you can heat the tea in the microwave for about 5 to 10 seconds to make it hot.

To make chamomile tea on stove top

    • Heat the water in a saucepan, bring it to a boil.
    • Transfer the hot water to a cup containing the chamomile tea bags. (Pour the hot water into the cup with chamomile tea bag).
    • Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes.
    • Remove the tea bag, add the honey to the tea and enjoy the relaxing chamomile tea sweetened with pure and organic honey.

    To make iced chamomile tea:

    • To make iced tea, just cool down the tea to room temperature and then chill it in the refrigerator.
    • Once the tea is cold, add ice cubes and serve!

how to make large batch of chamomile tea?

If you want more servings of chamomile tea so that you can store it and sip the tea when you want throughout the week, you may prepare large batch of chamomile tea to make multiple servings.

In this recipe, we only made a small cup of chamomile tea which you can easily make in the microwave.

If you want to make large quantities of tea, you will need to prepare hot water accordingly, which you can do on stove top since it will be difficult to do on microwave.

Also you can use more tea bags and more honey to sweeten the tea as you need.

The steeping time of the tea will remain the same. Just increase the amount of ingredients proportionately to make more servings of tea.

As I mentioned earlier, if you wish to make iced tea, cool the tea to room temperature, then refrigerate the prepared tea.

Once the tea is cold, serve the tea with added ice cubes for delicious iced chamomile tea!

    how to store chamomile tea?

If you make large quantities of tea, it is a good idea to store the prepared tea for later use.

You can store the tea in the refrigerator for a couple of days (transfer to refrigerator once the tea is cooled to room temperature) and you can serve later as you need.

If you want hot or warm tea, just heat on stove top or you can heat the tea in microwave safe mugs or cups. Otherwise, just add ice cubes to enjoy iced tea.

For longer storage, you can transfer the tea to ice cube trays and store for even more days, though I haven't stored this for more than a couple of weeks.

how to make chamomile tea taste better - more ingredients to add flavor to natural chamomile tea

You can use any of these to add flavor to chamomile tea:
