Iced peach green tea lemonade is a popular drink from Starbucks and now you can make this delicious copycat drink at home from scratch using fresh peaches, lemon and gree tea bags. Iced peach green tea lemonade is a great, refreshing summer drink which also makes a delightful, colorful fall drink or holiday drink if you have leftover fresh peaches for autumn season. Also try peach cinnamon vanilla milk, peach milkshake with ice cream, peach nectar juice, peach yogurt smoothie etc for summer if you like easy homemade peach drinks!
As you make the transition from warm summer days to cool autumn days or colder winter days, do enjoy this colorful, fruit flavored green tea.
The one from Starbucks usually is made from peach juice, while we make it in a different way on stove top using fresh peaches.
You may also make Starbucks copycat iced peach green tea lemonade more easily using fresh or canned peach juice, store bought sweetened green tea, bottled lemonade and ice cubes, but in this recipe we are going to make the iced tea with fresh peaches, tea bags and lemon!
Though the idea of mixing peach juice, bottled lemonade and store bought tea sounds more easier (it is definitely easier if you have all the ingredients), most often I do not have bottled store bought peach juice at home.
On the other hand, I mostly have access to fresh peaches, especially during the peach season in summers and so it is more easy for me to make this tea using fresh peaches, which is a more easily available ingredient!
However, if you prefer to use peach juice to make this tea, you can use homemade peach juice as well!
Eventhough bottled lemonade is a very easily available ingredient, which we buy sometimes, I buy fresh lemons more often which can be used in different drinks and recipes.
And green tea bags are something that I almost always have.
This is why I prefer making this iced peach green tea lemonade from scratch using fresh peaches, green tea bags, lemon and sugar and I think it is more easy to make this tea from scratch using fresh ingredients that we mostly have at home.
Making peach green tea lemonade from fresh peaches
There are different methods to make peach tea from fresh peaches, whether you are making regular iced peach tea or peach green tea lemonade like in this recipe.
We will see two of the most easy methods to make peach tea using fresh peaches.
The most popular method is by making a peach syrup from fresh peaches and sugar which can be added to prepared tea & chill in the refrigerator (along with lemon juice if making lemonade) to make iced peach tea.
Making peach syrup using fresh peaches and sugar is super easy, you can just use a saucepan to cook sliced peaches along with added sugar to make sweetened peach syrup, just like I have made peach syrup to make peach milk here.
Second method that we use here in this recipe is to cook the peaches in water until peaches are soft, then we mash the peaches and add tea bags to steep tea.
The mixture is then filtered and chilled to make iced peach tea to which you can also add lemon juice (at an early stage or later stage as you like).
The advantage of this second method is that you may even add honey to make sweetened peach tea instead of sugar.
You may follow whichever method is more convenient for you, the idea is to get peach flavor in the iced tea lemonade!
So here is how you can make easy, delicious iced peach green tea lemonade at home using fresh ingredients.
How to make iced peach green tea lemonade at home?
We use the following ingredients to make fresh iced peach green tea lemonade at home.
ingredients to make iced peach green tea lemonade
peaches 2 ripe (I used two medium sized yellow peaches)
sugar 6 tablespoons adjust to taste (you may use honey as well)
green tea bags 2
lemon juice 3 tablespoons (may adjust the amount slightly to your preference)
water 3 cups (may add more if needed, once the tea is prepared)
ice cubes ½ cup or as needed
step by step instructions
Wash the peaches very well, peel and discard the pit. Slice the peaches into small sized pices.
Add the sliced peaches to a saucepan along with water.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover and cook in medium heat for about 15 to 20 minutes until peaches are cooked and soft.
Once the peaches are cooked, switch off the stove and add the green tea bags.
Steep the tea for about 2 minutes.
Make sure not to steep for longer time, to avoid any bitter taste to the peach sweet tea that we are making.
Once the tea is steeped, discard the tea bags.
Mash the peaches using a potato masher.
Add sugar, lemon juice and mix well, then switch on the stove and simmer the mixture for a couple of minutes more so the sugar is well dissolved with the prepared peach lemon green tea mixture.
You may further mash the peaches while you are simmering the tea, if needed.
Once the sugar is dissolved, switch off the stove and allow the tea to cool down to room temperature.
You may check the sweetness of the tea at this time, and if needed you may add little more sugar (you may also use honey instead of sugar if you want to use natural sweeteners).
It is a good idea to add any sugar while the tea is still hot, because it will be difficult to dissolve the sugar easily once the tea is cooled.
Once the tea is cooled to room temperature, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the pulp of peaches.
You can use a spoon to press against the strainer to get the most of the peaches while filtering through the strainer.
Once the tea is filtered, chill the prepared tea in refrigerator and once it's chilled enough, add ice cubes to tea cups or glasses and pour the tea over.
Once ice cubes are added, serve immediately for best results!
Alternate method:
Add the sugar and peaches to a saucepan and cook for a couple of minutes & then mash the peaches very well to make the peach syrup (in this method you need to use sugar, since I am not sure if honey will work.
With the first method you can use sugar, honey or any sweetener of your choice to sweeten the tea. You may even make unsweetened peach green tea lemonade if you wish, when you follow the first method since we only add the sweetener at a later stage of the preparation).
Once the peach syrup is made, add water and bring the mixture to a simmer, and then simmer this mixture for few minutes until enough peach flavor is added to the water.
Then add tea bags, steep the tea for 2 minutes and proceed just like the above method for the remaining steps, to make the iced peach green tea lemonade.
