    What is royal milk tea?

Royal milk tea is delicious, creamy Japanese milk tea made using tea bags or tea leaves, milk and sugar as the main ingredients.

    royal milk tea

You can use any black tea bags or tea leaves to make royal milk tea, but the popular tea used to make royal milk tea are Assam tea leaves & Darjeeling tea.

You can also use a mix of both Assam tea and darjeeling tea if you like.

If you do not have them, just use any black tea bags or tea leaves to make the milky tea.

In this tea recipe, the amount of milk used is higher compared to the amount of water used and make sure to use good quality tea leaves (or tea bags) and fresh whole milk for the best results.

You may even add a little heavy cream (about a tablespoon cream for a cup of tea) if you want it even more creamy.

Variations also include making iced tea by cooling the tea in refrigerator and then add iced cubes, adding cooked boba pearls to make boba tea etc.

You can also chill the tea and blend it in a blender until very creamy and frothy to make latte.

Just follow your heart and make the best cup of tea for yourself, whichever way you like it!

To make easy and quick royal milk tea, you also get instant royal milk tea powder to make this instantaneously!

In this royal milk tea recipe, I will explain both ways to make easy, delicious royal milk tea at home.

How to make royal milk tea using black tea bags or tea leaves?

    royal milk tea

    whole milk 2 cups

    water 1 cup

black tea bags 2 (or use 2 tablespoons of tea leaves - Assam tea or Darjeeling tea leaves preferred)

sugar 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)

    instructions

In a large sized saucepan, add the milk, sugar and water.

If using tea leaves or tea powder, add it too and bring the mixture to a boil. Once the mixture begins to boil, reduce heat to ver low and simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes (make sure the tea is not boiling over, if the pan is too small or if the heat is high, the milk tea will boil over so you need to immediately and carefully transfer the saucepan from the hot stove to avoid the tea boiling over).

Transfer the prepared milk tea to a mug or cup, enjoy!

If using tea bags, once the milk, sugar and water mixture begins to boil, turn off the stove and transfer the saucepan to a cool place.

Place the tea bags in the saucepan and steep the tea for about two minutes (do not steep for more time as we do not want the tea flavor to be strong and bitter in taste).

Enjoy the delicious milky royal tea!

    ingredients

royal milk tea powder 2 packets

    water 1.5 cups

sugar 1 tablespoon (optional, adjust to taste)

    instructions

Boil the water in a saucepan (or heat it in microwave and stir in the royal milk tea powder & sugar (if using), enjoy!

How long does this tea lasts in refrigerator?

    royal milk tea

If not serving this tea immediately (which tastes best when it is served hot if you like hot tea), make sure to store this tea in refrigerator to keep it fresh, for another 1 to 2 days.

Since we use milk in the preparation, it is a good idea to use the tea in a couple of days even when you store in the refrigerator, for best results.

For even longer storage, you may transfer the tea in ice cube trays and store in the freezer for more time (if you store it properly and if you made sure to use very fresh ingredients like milk).

Below you can get the recipe for this delicious, milky tea in detail.
