Homemade Strawberry Syrup For Strawberry Milk

Strawberry syrup is one important ingredient to prepare strawberry milk.

In this homemade strawberry milk, we use homemade strawberry syrup as well.

To prepare homemade strawberry syrup, we first slice the strawberries in pieces and then cook the slices strawberries on the stove along with little sugar until syrup is formed.

This only takes few minutes of time.

Once this is made, you can easily mash the cooked strawberries for the perfect syrup like consistency.

I like small chunks of strawberries in the syrup, but if you wish to have a smooth consistency for the syrup, you may also use a hand blender to puree the contents or you can cool this down to room temperature and then puree it in a blender or food processor if you wish.

However, this is not necessary at all, and I really like leaving the strawberry syrup with small chunks of strawberries just like that for using in this recipe.

Instead of preparing strawberry syrup, you may also use any leftover strawberry compote or strawberry sauce if you have that at home!

    milk 2 cups chilled

Once the strawberries are cooked, switch off the stove, and mash the cooked strawberries (a potato masher works well) to make the strawberry syrup.

You do not need to mash this a lot, as few small chunks of strawberries are good for strawberry milk.

Once the milk is mixed well with the strawberries, allow the strawberry milk mixture to completely cool down.

When the mixture is cooled to room temperature, transfer the prepared milk to glass bottle or jar and chill the milk in the refrigerator.

If you wish a smooth consistency for the drink, you can also blend the contents using a hand mixer or using a blender! I like the texture of strawberries in this drink, but you can blend it for a smoother more easy to drink texture like a milkshake, if you want to.

Once the strawberry milk is chilled, transfer the milk to serving glass cups, garnish with sliced, fresh strawberries (that we kept aside early), and serve!

    fresh strawberry milk

Make sure to keep the strawberry milk refrigerated and always serve it chilled for best results!

How to store homemade strawberry milk?

Homemade strawberry milk is best served cold.

You can serve it immediately if you wish, or you can chill it in the refrigerator and serve after a couple of hours, for best results.

The homemade flavored milk can be stored in airtight glass jars or bottles in the refrigerator for a couple of days until it stays fresh.

I do not recommend storing this more than two days in the refrigerator, but if you wish to store this for longer time, you may transfer the prepared milk to ice cube trays and store in the freezer so it stays fresh for longer time.

How to make vegan strawberry milk?

It is super easy to make vegan strawberry milk!

You can easily substitute the milk with any of the vegan, plant based milk like almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk etc based on which one is your favorite.

If you love the taste of coconut milk, you can use coconut milk to make this drink.

If you do not prefer the flavor of coconut milk, the best alternatives for milk will be almond milk and oat milk.

How to make healthy strawberry milk?

To make healthy strawberry milk, just replace the sugar with natural sweeteners like pure fresh maple syrup or honey or stevia, whichever is your preferred sweetener.

If you do not wish to use any sweeteners, you may skip the sweetener as well though the resulting strawberry milk will be less sweet.

You can also use low fat milk or no fat milk if you wish to reduce the amount of fat in this drink or you may also replace the milk with a vegan option like almond milk if you wish.

Below you can get the recipe for homemade strawberry milk in detail.
