The flavor of the sauteed onions will greatly depend on the kind of onions you use and also the spices or seasonings that you add.

If you want mildly sweet onions, it is a good idea to use yellow onions.

However, red onions and white onions too make great sauteed onions but the flavor won’t be sweet like using yellow onions.

Onions are often eaten raw in salads, or they are pickles, and onions are also caramelized to make caramelized onions for soup, burgers, pizza etc and also they are fried, baked, roasted etc.

However, I think one of the most easy ways to cook onions if you don’t want to enjoy them raw in salads or use in pickles is to make sauteed onions.

Sauteed onions is one step lesser than making caramelized onions and they don’t need as much time to finish cooking like you need for browned caramelized onions.
