milkshakes without ice creams
Milkshakes are often made with ice creams to make them creamy, delicious drinks. It is possible to make delicious, creamy milkshakes without ice creams as well. I have a lot of easy to make, delicious milkshake recipes that do not use ice cream as an ingredient!
In fact, most of the times I make milkshakes without ice creams.
This is because, milkshake recipes that do not need ice creams have their own advantages. That includes comparatively low calories, comparatively less sugar and overall they are better choices if you are trying to make desserts that are comparatively low in sugar. In this post, let us see which all ingredients will help you make creamy milkshakes without using ice creams.
To make a delicious, simple, easy and creamy vanilla milkshake without ice cream, we can use chilled whole milk, heavy whipping cream, vanilla and sugar (or another natural sweetener like pure fresh maple syrup or honey). To make a delicious creamy strawberry milkshake, we can use fresh or frozen strawberries, milk and sugar or any other sweetener. Fresh or frozen fruits will work for milkshakes, because they both help make milkshakes more thick and creamier.
Using frozen fruits make the milkshakes even more thick, creamy and frosty in texture naturally.
If you prefer a very creamy, frosty texture for milkshakes without using ice creams, you can use frozen fruits like frozen banana slices, frozen strawberries, blueberries, peach slices, mango slices etc. However, personally I like using fresh fruits since I do not really want very frosty texture for the milkshakes. The best fruits to add thickness to make creamy milkshakes include bananas, mangoes, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple etc.
It is easy to make delicious strawberry milkshake without ice cream, banana milkshake without ice cream, raspberry milkshake without ice cream or peanut butter milkshake without ice cream! When you make creamy milkshakes without ice creams, it is a good idea to use chilled whole milk and heavy cream.
You may even use frozen milk (milk frozen in ice cube trays) if you can freeze the milk in advance. Heavy cream is not really necessary if you are using fruits or nuts or nut butters, since they naturally add more creaminess even without using any cream.
Whole milk also helps to add more fat making the milkshakes more creamy, naturally. If you are trying to reduce the calories, you may use low fat milk and skip the heavy cream too and use fruits instead to make the milkshake creamy without adding more fat.
Nuts like walnuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios etc are great options to make creamy milkshakes without ice creams, and to make them more protein rich as well. Instead of using nuts directly, you can use nut butters like peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter etc as well.
So here you can see the milkshake recipes I have made over time that do not uses ice cream in it.

how to store milkshakes?
Homemade milkshakes are best enjoyed as soon as they are prepared because they taste the best once you enjoy them right after they are made. As they sit for longer time, they become less cold & less tasty.
Also, the frozen fruits that you might have used in the preparation will begin to release water content, which will eventually thin out the milkshake. Even fresh fruits will release more water content as they sit on and they also lose their fresh taste and flavor.
Overall, it is not a good idea to keep the milkshakes in room temperature for longer time. If you do not serve the milkshake in a few minutes time, it is a good idea to transfer the milkshake to air tight jars or pitchers and store in the refrigerator.
For much longer storage, you may transfer the prepared milkshakes to ice cube trays and freeze them. Once you are ready to enjoy the milkshake, just blend the frozen cubes again in blender for a delicious, frosty milkshake!
