Different Ways To Make Chocolate Oatmeal

You can make chocolate oatmeal in many different ways. All of them are easy!

I often make the chocolate oatmeal in microwave oven, which is the most easy and quick way to make oatmeal in small servings.

To make a creamy porridge in more quantities, it is always best to make it on stove top.

You can just set in the oven and bake if you want oven baked oats, which is less work than stove top since you don’t have to wait there through the cooking process.

Also the baked oatmeal has a different consistency and texture than stove top oatmeal!

I already have this easy, delicious baked chocolate oatmeal here!

Substitutes for cocoa powder to make chocolate oatmeal

We can use unsweetened cocoa powder to make chocolate oatmeal (will add sweetener).

Alternatives or substitutes to cocoa powder includes chocolate drink mix powders (like carnation chocolate drink mix or chocolate horlicks powder or any of your favorite chocolate drink mix), chocolate syrup etc!

If you use sweetened chocolate drink mix powders or sweetened chocolate syrups, you may not need to use extra sweetener or you can reduce the amount of sweetener based on your preference.

In this post, we will see how to make the chocolate oatmeal in microwave and also stove top.

To make easy, delicious and creamy chocolate oatmeal porridge at home, we use the following ingredients.

ingredients used

oats ½ cup

water 1 cup

cinnamon powder ¼ teaspoon

cocoa powder 1 tablespoon

pure fresh maple syrup 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)

whole milk or heavy cream ½ cup

Add water, cocoa powder and cinnamon powder, mix well.

Microwave the contents for about 2 minutes in high power.

Once this is done, wait for a cooling period of another one more minute and carefully take the bowl (it could be very hot so make sure to handle carefully for safety reasons!).

Stove top method:

Place the oats and water in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.

Add cinnamon powder and cocoa powder, mix well, reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the oats is cooked and soft (keep stirring while the oats is cooking so the oats won’t get burnt at the bottom of the pan).

Once the oats is cooked, add the maple syrup and milk (or cream), stir in to combine and enjoy!
