I often make the chocolate oatmeal in microwave oven, which is the most easy and quick way to make oatmeal in small servings.
To make a creamy porridge in more quantities, it is always best to make it on stove top.
You can just set in the oven and bake if you want oven baked oats, which is less work than stove top since you don't have to wait there through the cooking process.
Also the baked oatmeal has a different consistency and texture than stove top oatmeal!

Substitutes for cocoa powder to make chocolate oatmeal
We can use unsweetened cocoa powder to make chocolate oatmeal (will add sweetener).
Alternatives or substitutes to cocoa powder includes chocolate drink mix powders (like carnation chocolate drink mix or chocolate horlicks powder or any of your favorite chocolate drink mix), chocolate syrup etc!
If you use sweetened chocolate drink mix powders or sweetened chocolate syrups, you may not need to use extra sweetener or you can reduce the amount of sweetener based on your preference.

How To Make Chocolate Oatmeal Porridge For Breakfast?
To make easy, delicious and creamy chocolate oatmeal porridge at home, we use the following ingredients.

oats ½ cup
water 1 cup
cinnamon powder ¼ teaspoon
cocoa powder 1 tablespoon
pure fresh maple syrup 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
whole milk or heavy cream ½ cup
Step by step instructions
Microwave method:
In a microwave safe bowl, place the oats (use a larger bowl to avoid oatmeal boiling over).
Add water, cocoa powder and cinnamon powder, mix well.
Microwave the contents for about 2 minutes in high power.
Once this is done, wait for a cooling period of another one more minute and carefully take the bowl (it could be very hot so make sure to handle carefully for safety reasons!).
Add maple syrup and milk, stir in well to combine with the oats, enjoy for breakfast brunch or snack!
Stove top method:
Place the oats and water in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
Add cinnamon powder and cocoa powder, mix well, reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the oats is cooked and soft (keep stirring while the oats is cooking so the oats won't get burnt at the bottom of the pan).
Once the oats is cooked, add the maple syrup and milk (or cream), stir in to combine and enjoy!
