I like to eat oatmeal even for dinner sometimes and adding nut butters like peanut butter even add more protein to the already delicious and nutritious oatmeal!
Oatmeal porridge is one of the best and easy breakfasts ever and this creamy, healthy and delicious peanut butter oatmeal is sweetened with maple syrup which is a fantastic combination.
In this recipe, you may also substitute maple syrup with honey if you do not have maple syrup.

Adding bananas to peanut butter is simple and it makes a delicious twist to this simple oatmeal
If you have fresh, ripe bananas, you can mash one of the bananas (or slice) and add to the oatmeal along with the peanut butter.
You can also top the oatmeal with a few slices of bananas to add more banana flavor.
Peanut butter strawberry oatmeal
Peanut butter strawberry oatmeal is perfect fruity and nutty oatmeal, great for a quick, delicious, nutritious breakfast.
If you love strawberries in oatmeal, just add a few slices of fresh strawberries in your oatmeal once it is cooked and also top the oatmeal with a few slices of strawberries!
Honey as maple syrup substitute
If you do not have pure fresh maple syrup or if you prefer to use honey, you can just substitute maple syrup with honey in this recipe.

Though peanut butter is the best to use in this recipe, you may also try using almond butter, sunflower butter, cashew butter etc for different flavors of oatmeal.
Can you make this oatmeal vegan?
Yes, actually this oatmeal is prepared in water and we only use milk as an optional ingredient once the oatmeal is prepared.
If you want to keep it dairy free or vegan, just skip the milk and the oatmeal will be still very delicious.
If you wish, you may also use plant based milk alternatives like almond milk, coconut milk etc.

So here is how you can make easy, delicious and creamy homemade oatmeal with peanut butter and maple syrup.
How to make peanut butter oatmeal porridge?
To make homemade peanut butter oatmeal, we use the following ingredients.

oats ½ cup (steel cut oats)
peanut butter 1 tablespoon
maple syrup 1 tablespoon
cinnamon powder ½ teaspoon
water 1 cup
milk ¼ cup (optional)
Step by step instructions
Microwave instructions
Place the oatmeal in a microwave safe bowl (do not use small sized bowls).
Add peanut butter, water, cinnamon powder and maple syrup (do not sir).
Microwave in high for 2 minutes.
Stir the contents and microwave for another 1 minute until the oats is cooked and the oatmeal looks creamy.
Once it is done, carefully take the bowl outside (it will be very hot at this point, so handle with care), also add the milk (if using) and stir in.
Allow the peanut butter oatmeal to cool down, stir in little more cinnamon powder if desired and enjoy!
Stovetop instructions
Add water to a saucepan and also add the oats to it.
Bring the mixture to a boil, add peanut butter, cinnamon powder and maple syrup. Stir well.
Reduce the heat to medium and cook in medium heat for about 2 to 3 minutes until the oats is cooked and soft.
Also add little milk if desired, stir well. Transfer the cooked peanut butter oatmeal to a cool place and serve hot or warm or chilled as you like.
