Kiwi juice is easy to prepare at home when kiwifruits are in season when you can easily find fresh, good quality kiwifruits at the store.

I used ripe Newzealand kiwifruits to make this kiwi drink, which are popularly known as golden kiwis or yellow kiwifruits.

What Are Kiwifruits?

Kiwifruits are green colored fruits that are very nutritious and high in vitamin c & fibers.

With regards to taste, they are kind of sour fruits though they are slightly sweet too.

Kiwifruit or kiwi comes in different varieties and they come in green or slighly greenish yellow colors.

In this recipe, we have used golden yellow kiwi fruits, which is the best kiwifruit variety to make homemade kiwi juice.

The color of the kiwifruit flesh will also depend on it’s ripeness.

The unripe fruits will be usually very bright green in color.

You can read more about kiwifruits here.

The kiwifruit juice is not a very, bright colorful green fruit juice, but it’s rather lightly green and yellow in color, since we use ripe greenish yellow kiwis to make the fruit juice.

The kiwi season starts in early fall and so you can easily find kiwifruits during the months of November, December and also for few more months.

It is easy to ripe the kiwifruits in the kitchen counter to prepare the fruit juice if you can’t get the ripe ones.

Though slightly on the sour side, kiwifruits are delicious when they are ripe and comes with a lot of health benefits.

Kiwifruits is rich in Vitamin C and fibers and helps with digestion and also they are great for the health of skin and growth of hair.

Some people, especially children, may have an allergy to kiwifruits.

So if you have never consumed kiwifruits before, it is good to be cautious if you are trying kiwifruits or kiwi juice for the first time.

You can read more about the kiwifruit allergy here.

It’s not just the flesh of kiwifruits that are healthy, but the seeds to has a lot of health benefits.

Juice made using kiwifruit will have many of these nutrients retained though we lose some of them when we strain the juice.

Also, in the juice recipe, we are using sugar to balance the sourness, so some of the health benefits are compromised.

You may replace the sugar with any natural sweetner or pair it with other fruits juices like apple juice or pineapple juice to make it more sweet naturally, if you wish to reduce the amount of sugar.

What Kind Of Kiwifruit Is Best For Juicing?

In this kiwi juice recipe, we use ripe kiwifruits which are slightly greenish yellow in color.

I used ripe Newzealand kiwis which are perfect to make the kiwi juice.

These kiwifruits are also known as golden kiwifruits or simply yellow kiwis!

kiwifruit

They are not too bright in green but has a slightly yellow fruit pulp with a hint of green.

ripe kiwifruits

They are not too sour at this stage, but rather they are kind of sweet with a little tangy flavor.

And at this stage, these are perfect to make fresh kiwi juice!

If you choose bright green kiwifruits or those which are not ripe, the kiwi juice may taste too sour and you may need to add more sugar or any sweetener of your choice to balance the tanginess of the kiwis.

The ripe kiwifruits will be soft when you gently press them but the unripe ones will be firm or hard when you press.

If you have unripe kiwifruits, I recommend waiting until they are ripe enough to make the juice. Kiwifruits usually ripe and becomes soft pretty fast, unless they are too unripe.

When you have ripe, soft and yellow kiwifruits, it is easy to make sweet and sour kiwi juice which is perfectly delicious!

They are also perfect to make simple, but delicious homemade fruit salads like this kiwi strawberry fruit salad!

So here is how you can make delicious and refreshing kiwi juice using fresh, ripe kiwifruits.

If you do not want the seeds to be crushed very small, you may blend the kiwi slices lightly by taking intervals in between, instead of blending until smooth which will crush the seeds as well into the juice.

I prefer blending this until smooth which is more easy to do and I think that is more tasty & nutritious as well.

Strain the kiwi juice through a fine mesh strainer if desired.
