How to make easy microwave oatmeal?
To make easy microwave oatmeal, we use the following ingredients.
ingredients for microwave oatmeal
½ cup steel cut rolled oats
1 cup water or just enough to immerse the oatmeal
1 tablespoon sweetener (sugar, honey, maple syrup etc) adjust to taste
¾ cup milk or more as required
Step by step instructions
Add the oatmeal and water to a microwave safe bowl, which is large enough to hold the contents with some extra space.
I suggest using a large mug, bowl or cup which will have the contents just filled up to its half.
Add the sweetener to the bowl.
Microwave in high for 2 minutes.
Give a cooling time of about 1 minute and microwave again for about another 1 minutes.
Now your oatmeal should be cooked nicely.
Add the milk and mix everything together, and your microwave oatmeal is ready.
If you wish, you can microwave the contents for another 30 seconds just to warm up everything nicely.
Microwave oatmeal can be very hot once it is cooked and so you need to be very careful while handling the bowl for safety reasons to avoid any burns. Allow the oatmeal to cool down slightly before serving.
Notes: You may also add 1 tablespoon of things to the oatmeal like ground almond meal or nut butters along with other ingredients if you like.
You can always add more milk if you wish, as oatmeal porridge tends to thicken as it cools down.
Top up with chopped fruits like apples, bananas, berries or pears or dried fruits like raisins or nuts like walnuts, cashews etc.
You may also sprinkle a little organic cinnamon powder for a wonderful aroma (you can also add the cinnamon powder before you cook your oatmeal in microwave which will help it blend more nicely).
Enjoy your warm oatmeal for breakfast or snack as you wish!
How To Reheat Oatmeal In Microwave Oven?
The microwave oatmeal is best enjoyed while it is still warm.
If you want to reheat your oatmeal (if you haven't served it while it is warm), you may need to reheat your oatmeal if you wish. Also, if you have stored the oatmeal in refreigerator for later use, then also you may need to reheat the oatmeal once you are ready to eat it.
As oatmeal sits for a while, it thickens as it absorbs all liquid in it.
In order to reheat the oatmeal in microwave, make sure the oatmeal is placed in a large microwave safe bowl, then add little milk or water (about 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time), stir well to combine with the oatmeal.
Then place the microwave safe bowl in the microwave oven and heat for about a minute. S
tir the contents again carefully, and heat for another one more minute (or little more if you refrigerated it) until it's heated enough.
Once heated, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave (it could be very hot at this point), and stir the contents again so the heat is distributed evenly. Allow the oatmeal to cool down a bit and enjoy it while it's still warm.
