Sometimes getting burn error while cooking rice in the instant pot can be a problem, if the rice to water ratio or instructions are not followed exactly.

However, I haven’t experienced the problem of burn error while cooking jasmine rice following this no fail foolproof recipe!

That’s because we add enough liquid so the burn error doesn’t happen but it is also not so much of liquid to make the rice mushy in texture. In fact, you can make perfect, fluffy textured jasmine rice following this recipe.

How Much Water For Jasmine Rice In Instant Pot?

seasoned white jasmine rice

The perfect rice to water ratio for cooking jasmine rice is 2: 2 ¼ which means you need to add either 2 ¼ cup water or broth to cook 2 cups of white jasmine rice in instant pot (this rice to water ratio varies slightly for other varieties of rice and also this is different if you cook the rice on stove top).

I have also made this rice and potato pilaf in instant pot using jasmine rice, where we use more water since we also add potatoes in it!

How Long To Cook Jasmine Rice In Instant Pot?

How To Cook White Jasmine Rice In Instant Pot?

We use the following amount of rice, water and other optional ingredients to make perfect, fluffy and flavorful white jasmine rice in instant pot pressure cooker.

Ingredients

white jasmine rice 2 cups

water 2 ¼ cups (or broth)

oil 1 to 2 tablespoons (or butter)

lemon juice 2 tablespoons (optional)

for seasoning & garnishing (optional)

salt adjust to taste (optional)

minced onions (dried) ½ cup (optional, you may add little more if you like)

dried parsley leaves 1 tablespoon

red chili flakes 1 teaspoon (or as you prefer, optional)

Step by step instructions

Rinse the rice very well in water for 2 to 3 times until the water runs almost clear.

Transfer the rinsed jasmine rice to instant pot.

Also add the water (or broth) and oil. Make sure the rice is immersed in water (or broth).

Add the minced onions (if using) and also add any other optional ingredients, if using (lemon juice, salt etc).

Cover the instant pot with lid in sealing position and cook in high pressure for 7 minutes.

Once the cooking is done, let the pressure release naturally for about 15 minutes.

After that, carefully & gardually release any remaining pressure by controlled manual pressure release.

Once the pressure is all released, carefully open the lid and gently fluff the cooked rice with a fork.
