This is also a homemade protein rich shake without protein powder, with about 24 grams of protein in one serving, though it’s quite high in sugar as well.

And we use real pistachio nuts in this milkshake recipe which almost tastes like a dessert drink!

Since we use real pistachio nuts in this recipe, you can even make this pistachio milkshake without pistachio ice cream if you do not have pistachio ice cream at home.

I have used vanilla ice cream along with pistachio nuts to make this delicious milkshake, but if you have pistachio ice cream you can use that too instead of vanilla ice cream!

I have this pistachio rice pudding recipe which is a delicious Indian style dessert pudding using pistachio nuts & rice!

In fact, pistachios are used in many popular Indian recipes including drinks and puddings and they are also used for garnishing desserts, pulao rice etc.

If you have never tried pistachios and wonder how pistachios taste, they taste quite mild & sweet with a great flavor.

They are kind of soft with a slight crunch and are perfect to be used in recipes because they add a wonderful flavor & make dishes colorful on its own.

Also they are mildly sweet, so they naturally add a mild sweeteness to the drinks or sweets that you make with them.

However, if you have nut allergy, you need to be cautious since you can be allergic to pistachios.

If you have never tried pistachios before, it is a good idea to be careful about any possible allergic reactions.

You can read more about pistachio allergy here.

Pistachios are protein rich nuts with many health benefits too.

If you follow a vegetarian diet, nuts can be a good source of protein and pistachios make a great source of plant based protein.

Tips to make perfect pistachio nut milkshake

pistachio milkshake

To make the perfect pistachio milkshake, you can follow these tips!

If you are trying to keep it more healthy & reduce the amount of fat, it’s a good idea to use low fat milk.

However, using whole milk to make the milkshake will make it taste the best!

The amount of nuts used in the recipe can be slightly adjusted.

If you wish the milkshake to be very thick, you may add little more nuts.

To make it more thin, you may slightly reduce the amounts of nuts.

You may soak the pistachios in milk or nuts in advance if you wish, to make them more soft.

This is not really necessary as pistachios are not very hard in texture, so I usually do not do that.

When you make pistachio milkshake, even if you blend them smooth, there may be little residue from the nuts which makes the milkshake more chewy.

If you do not like that chewy texture, you may filter the milkshake using a fine mest strainer or smoothie press or nut bag.

Adding ice cream makes this milkshake very delicious and creamy.

You can use ice creams that you like, but the best choices for ice creams to make the milkshake are vanilla ice cream & pistachio ice cream.

You may even make this milkshake without ice cream if you wish to keep it more healthy, but I think it tastes the best when made with ice cream.

So here is how you can make creamy, delicious pistachio milkshake at home using pistachio nuts!
