    How Does Cranberry Chocolate Cake Taste Like?

    Cranberry chocolate cake has fresh cranberries, sugar and chocolate chips in it so the cake tastes sweet, chocolatey and slightly tart from the fresh cranberries!

    The taste of fresh cranberries is sour, as you know, so the cake baked with fresh cranberries will have that bites of fresh cranberry taste which is slightly tangy & sour however, the cake itself is sweet since it's basically a chocolate cake! Also the texture of this chocolate cranberry cake is kind of fudgy and it's delicious, moist and soft!

    Ingredients used to make cranberry chocolate cake

    fresh cranberries 16 oz

    sugar 2 tablespoons (for coating the cranberries)

    all purpose flour 2 cups

    unsweetened cocoa powder ½ cup

    baking powder 3 teaspoons

    butter 1 stick

    eggs 2 large

    sugar 2.5 cups (this is for the batter)

    vanilla extract 1 teaspoon

    milk 1 ¼ cup

    semi sweet chocolate chips 1 cup

    How To Make Cranberry Chocolate Fruit Cake For Christmas?

    Step by step instructions to make cranberry chocolate cake using fresh cranberries

    Step 1 - Wash the cranberries very well and place it in a bowl. Add the two tablespoons of sugar to the cranberries and mix well to coat.

    Step 2 - In another large bowl, place the flour.

    Step 3 - Also add cocoa powder and baking powder, mix well to combine evenly with the flour.

    Step 4 - In a different bowl, melt the butter and add the sugar to the melted butter. Mix the butter and sugar very well to combine.

    Step 5 - Whisk the eggs in another small bowl and add the whisked eggs to the butter sugar mixture, mix very well to form a wet mixture.

    Step 6 - Add the butter sugar egg mixture to the dry flour mixture, also add the milk and vanilla extract and mix everything well to form the batter. Make sure all ingredients are evenly combined!

    Step 7 - Now add the fresh cranberries (mixed with little sugar) and also the chocolate chips to the prepared batter, stir to distribute them evenly across the batter.

    To bake the cranberry chocolate cake:

    Step 8 - Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.

    Step 9 - Prepare two cake pans by greasing with a little oil or butter and lining with parchment paper.

    Step 10 - Pour the cake batter in both the cake pans evenly (half batter in the first cake pan and remaining half in the second cake pan).

    Step 11 - Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, then increase the oven temperature to 375 degree Fahrenheit and bake for another 10 minutes until a toothpick inserted through the center of the cakes comes out clean!

    Step 12 - Oven temperatures may slightly vary with different ovens so you may check the cakes at around 30 to 35 minutes time mark to see if it is done. Also, if the cakes are not completely cooked by the time mentioned, you may bake for another few more minutes until it's done completely! In case the top of the cakes browns and if the inside is not completely baked yet, you may cover the cakes with foil and continue baking until it is done.

    Step 13 - Once the cakes are completely baked, immediately trasfer the cake pans from the hot oven to stop further baking.

    Step 14 - Allow the cakes to cool down completely, once it is cooled you can slice the enjoy the cake with a cup of coffee, tea or milk!
