Fresh vs frozen blackberries & bananas to make blackberry banana smoothie
If you like thick, frosty smoothies, it is best to use frozen fruits like frozen blackberries and/or frozen strawberries and frozen bananas.
You may also use any one of the fruits to be frozen for a medium frosty texture.
For example, if you do not want it too thick or frosty, you can use either frozen blackberries or frozen bananas and use fresh strawberries.
Using frozen banana slices itself will make the smoothie thick and frosty even if you use fresh berries.
I find it more easy to blend fresh blackberries and I don't always want very thick texture for the smoothies, so I sometimes use fresh berries and bananas and sometimes use frozen fruits based on the texture I want.
In this recipe, I used fresh fruits based on my preference but you can always use fresh or frozen based on your preference of texture for the smoothies.

To keep it even more low sugar, you may skip the sweetener if you want to.
