Garlic udon noodles is simple, easy to make, delicious Japanese noodles flavored with garlic seasoning, frozen corn and peas! This simple easy dish is made from instant pre-cooked packaged udon noodles!

Udon noodles can be cooked from scratch using dry noodles (store bought or homemade) or you can cook delicious meals using pre-cooked packaged instant noodles like the one I have used here or you can also find frozen noodles.
The noodles I used here are already cooked and vacuum sealed so you just need to heat them up for few minutes along with the other ingredients which makes it so quick and easy to do!
However, if you have dry udon noodles, you can follow the package directions to cook the noodles so you can use that in the recipe!
What are udon noodles?
Udon noodles are popular Asian style Japanese noodles which is used to make soups, stir fries, salads and more noodle based dishes. This noodles is primarily made from wheat flour (along with tapioca starch or potato starch etc) and tastes great with a thick, mild and chewy texture.
These noodles are available to buy in the market in different forms, like dry noodles which you can boil to cook the noodles or pre cooked instant noodles which only needs few minutes of cooking.
The popular Japanese dishes made using udon noodles include:
yaki udon: which is a noodle stir fry with vegetables, meat etc.
kake udon: traditional Japanese dish with udon noodles in hot broth with dashi and other ingredients.
tempura udon: noodle dish served with Japanese tempura
hiyashi udon: udon noodles served in cold dashi broth
Garlic udon noodles with stir fried frozen peas and corn:
Garlic udon noodles with stir fried frozen peas and corn makes easy, simple and delicious noodles with garlic flavor, veggies and corn.
This is similar to yaki udon noodles (stir fried Japanese dish using udon noodles) but it is not an authentic recipe for yaki udon noodles, as this is a simple way to make stir fried garlic vegetable noodles using udon noodles and vegetables and corn.
Using udon noodles in this garlic noodles recipes gives a delicious, chewy, unique texture that is specific to just udon noodles!
However, if you don't have udon noodles, you can substitute with other types of noodles of your choice.
Substitutes for udon noodles to make garlic noodles:
If you don't have udon noodles at home, you may use other kinds of Japanese noodles like hokkien noodles or feel free to substitute with any Chinese, Japanese, Italian noodles or other kinds of wheat noodles of your choice.
Spaghetti noodles, hakka noodles, fettucine noodles, egg noodles etc make pretty good substitutes if you don't have udon noodles.
Whichever noodles you use to substitute udon noodles, make sure to cook the noodles based on the package instructions!

The advantages of using this easy, simple udon noodles recipe with peas and corn are many! It is not a traditional or authentic Japanese recipe but we use the Japanese noodles here to make a simple, delicious noodle dish that is easy to put together.
Since we use the instant udon noodles, the cooking time is very less so you can easily cook this when you are short on time.
Also, using frozen corn and frozen peas helps with fast cooking while not missing out on veggie flavors!

How to make garlic udon noodles stir fried with peas and corn?
To make stir fried garlic udon noodles with peas and corn, you can use the following ingredients.
ingredients used:
udon noodles 800 grams pre-cooked (I used two 14.2 oz instant packages with each package having two 7.1 oz pouches of noodles)
oil 2 tablespoons
garlic powder 2 teaspoons
frozen peas 1 cup
frozen sweet corn 1.5 cups
salt adjust to taste (needed only for peas and corn)
dried minced onions ½ cup
soy sauce 1 tablespoon
water ¾ cup
Step by step instructions
Add the frozen peas, corn and salt to a large skillet, wok or pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
As the water is evaporated from the frozen produce, add oil, garlic and dried minced onions, stir fry for another 2 to 3 minutes until the peas and corn is almost cooked.
Add the instant noodles from the packages.
(We use the pre cooked instant noodles here. If you use a different product, please follow the package instructions for cooking the noodles.)
Add the water, cover with lid and cook for about 2 minutes in low heat.
Open the pan and gently break the noodles (the pre cooked noodles are easy to break if you use the same instant noodles), stir with the peas and corn, then cover again and cook for another 1 more minute in low heat.
Once it's done, open the pan and add the soy sauce, stir the contents well to combine the ingredients evenly, stir fry the noodles for about 1 to 2 minutes in low heat so all the flavors are well blended.
Serve hot with more vegetables, eggs or other protein for a simple, easy, delicious dinner or any meal!
